Prostate Cancer Research – The Promise of Pomegranates

Pomegranates have long been used in traditional folk remedies for neck pain, inflammation and rheumatism. And recent scientific research has suggested that they are also potentially effective in both prevention and treatment of prostate cancer.

A study of human prostate cancer cells in lab dishes, at the University of Wisconsin, found that improvements are dose-dependent. Another study at the same facility injected mice with human prostate cancer cells. ThisThe mice developed tumors. Some mice were fed pure water, while two other groups of mice were given water mixed with different concentrations of pomegranate extract.

Those mice that water was only tumors that have grown much faster than the groups of pomegranate and water. And the pomegranate juice was not sotested on people suffering from prostate cancer, but the results are very good.

The study does not specify which aspects of pomegranate juice were responsible for the slower growth of prostate cancer. But scientists say nothing of polyphenol antioxidants, more effective than green tea and red wine.
